FRANCIS CARON
A musician, with a Masters degree in composition from
Montreal University, Francis has been dancing argentine tango
since 1994. He taught for a year-and-a-half at lAvenue Tango
in Quebec City where he co-choreographed three shows with
Nancy Lavoie. He danced in different events during his stay in
Quebec City, including the show Intimo of Juan Carlos
Cacéres at Petit Champlain Theater. He has also taught
in other Canadian cities, in France and in Moscow.
He moved to Ottawa in 1999 to create the Siempre Tango
school. He has performed for the Privy Council of the
Prime Minister, Canadian Heritage, Dance Network Studio
fundraiser at the Great Canadian Theater Company, as well as
at the National Arts Center (See Besos Brujos). He choreographed
and directed Abrazos, a tango show at the Arts Court
in August 2003 for the Dance Kapital Festival.
BRIGITTE CARON
Brigitte has been teaching the Alexander Technique since 1996
and exploring it since 1984. (The Alexander Technique is an
effective way of dissolving habits of thought and movement that
interfere with our ability to function with poise and flexibility).
She started taking tango lessons with Francis Caron in the fall
of 2000. She has been working and teaching with Francis
since 2002 and performing since 2003 (see Besos Brujos).
TOGETHER
They are vibrant and intimate dancers. Their style is fueled
by their own relentless curiosity and equally playful
and musical natures. They are inspired by
the spirited explorations of their favorite dancers.
MARY ELLEN HURD
Mary Ellen is an experienced and versatile dancer and teacher
who has worked in various dance styles and techniques
from classical ballet to contemporary dance, jazz to ballroom.
She has been dancing Argentine Tango since 2000, primarily
trained by Francis and Brigitte Caron, and has been part of the
Siempre Tango teaching staff since 2002. She is also a
practitioner of yoga and the Alexander Technique, and brings
this additional knowledge to her teaching of Argentine Tango.
