FRANCIS CARON
A musician, with a Masters degree in composition, Francis has been
dancing argentine tango since 1994. He started learning tango in
Montreal with Paul Montpetit and Claudine Blais. He has deepened
his knowledge with Masters such as Hernán Obispo, Claudia
Codega & Esteban Moreno, Wouter Brave & Babette Anhalt,
Mireille Painchaud, Luciana Valle, Jorge Dispari, among others.
He taught for a year-and-a-half at lAvenue Tango in Quebec
City where he co-choreographed three shows with Nancy Lavoie.
He danced in different events during his stay in Quebec City,
such as the show Intimo of Juan Carlos Cacéres at Petit
Champlain Theater. He has also taught in France and in Moscow.
He moved to Ottawa in 1999 to create the Siempre Tango
school. He has performed for various events and functions,
such as the Privy Council of the Prime Minister, Heritage
Canada, as well as Dance Network Studio fundraiser at
the Great Canadian Theater Company (See Besos Brujos).
He choreographed and directed Abrazos, a tango show at
the Arts Court in August 2003 for the Dance Kapital festival.
BRIGITTE CARON
Brigitte has been teaching the Alexander Technique since 1996
years and exploring it since 1984. (The Alex. Tech. is an
effective way of dissolving habits of thought and movement that
interfere with our ability to function with poise and flexibility).
She started taking tango lessons with Francis Caron in the fall
of 2000. She has been working and teaching with Francis
since 2002 and performing since 2003 (see Besos Brujos).
While she has developed her style (both lead and follow)
through many workshops in Ottawa, Montreal and Buenos Aires,
she owes much of her evolution to the work of Francis Caron,
Nancy Lavoie, Luciana Valle, Ezequiel Farfaro, Jorge Dispari
as well as her own relentless curiosity and Spirit.
MARCEL LAURIN
Marcel has been dancing Argentine tango for seven years. He
started the study of Tango at la Tangueria in Montreal with Julio
Otero. He has developed his technique through numerous workshops
with teachers such as Hernan Obispo, Claudia Codega and Esteban
Moreno, Juan Bruno, Jorge Torres, Gabriel Gudaroff, Tomás
Howlin and Chantal Dauphinais, Gustavo Navierra, among others.
Marcel and his partner, Danièle Lacroix, introduced tango in Ottawa
by inviting teachers having various styles including Julio Otero,
Jorge Torres and Tomás & Chantal as well as by hosting milongas.
MARY ELLEN HURD
Mary Ellen started learning tango with Francis Caron five years
ago. She has been teaching at Siempre Tango school for three
years where she continues her training as a teacher with Francis.
Her preferred influences are Brigitte Caron, Luciana Valle,
Nancy Lavoie, Tomás Howlin and Chantal Dauphinais...
